It is likely that this 'drama di foco' drew on Euripides and/or Seneca. This was the third of three operas, performed at the festivities in Munich, in celebration of the birth the first son of the Bavarian Electoral couple (see Sartori ID 15312 for the libretto of the opera, and Sartori ID 10087a for the plan of the celebrations).
