Get involved

Research

You are most welcome to come and consult the archive's research collections - students, academics, creative practitioners, everyone is welcome - but appointments must be booked at least one week in advance. For information about booking an appointment, visiting the archive, and our opening hours, please go to the Visit Us page.

Donate

The APGRD welcomes donations. Whether you are a member of a theatre company putting on a production inspired by an ancient Greek or Roman text, a keen theatre-goer who has kept programme notes, or an actor who performed in a professional or amateur, school or university play we would love to hear from you. We accept anything that will give an insight into performances - from reviews and newspaper cuttings, photographs and recordings, to programme notes, scripts, and correspondence. We are interested in all types of performance (drama, opera, ballet, musical, film, television etc.), amateur and professional, worldwide and from any time period. If you would like to discuss donating material to the archive please Contact Us.

Volunteer

The APGRD relies on the help of volunteers, usually Oxford students. As well as helping with the upkeep of the library, our volunteers mainly work as archive assistants, helping to research, catalogue, preserve, and archive material donated to our research collections. Volunteers also lend a hand at the APGRD's public events, conferences, and art exhibitions. If you are interested in theatre history, classical reception studies, or a career in archives, volunteering at the APGRD is a great way to gain valuable work experience and an insight into a university research centre. We can only take a select number of volunteers each year, but to discuss weekly volunteering or a block of work experience, please email us at
