It is not known when this tragedy was produced. We know that Dicaeogenes probably produced a tragedy in the rural Dionysia at the beginning of the 4th-century BC; so the date range given here is based on a 40-year period from the beginning of the 4th century. No fragments from the play survive, but we know of it from a reference to it in a scholiast's comment on Euripides' Medea.
