We do not know when this play was produced. This play may be alluded to Aristophanes' Birds (1232), in which case it must have been performed before the production of that comedy in 414 BC. The date range for performance given here therefore ranges from the date of Euripides' first competition (see Life of Euripides) to 415 BC. The performance venue and location is not certain, but it is assumed here that this play would have been performed in Athens.
