Demosthenes in his speech 'On the Embassy' alludes to, and criticises, Aeschines' performance in a play about the House of Thyestes. It is uncertain that the play was Euripides' Thyestes, but it remains a likely candidate. If this is rhetorical spin and Aeschines never in fact performed in this play, the speech at least demonstrates that it was possible in 330 BC to imagine such a performance taking place in Attica.
