The evidence of this performance is anecdotal. Philo comments on the audience response that he had witnessed to tragic actors performing and reciting part of Euripides Auge (fr.275 TrGF). It is unclear when this performance took place exactly - Philo says it was 'a short time ago'. Since he was already an old man when he went on the embassy to Gaius in 39/40 AD, the date range for this performance is given as the first half of the 1st century AD.
