The Buggbears "of unknown authorship and uncertain date [is] an adaptation of Grazzini's L Spiritata (1561), with episodes from Gl' Ingannati and the Andria of Terence" (Boas, p.134). The date of performance is unknown, but James D.Clark (ed.), The Bugbears: A Modernized Edition (New York and London: Garland Pub., 1979) suggests it is probably to be dated late in the 1560s, certainly later than 1563.
