The APGRD holds a unique range of archival material, bibliographic resources, and open access databases on the performance and reception of ancient texts. The archive and library collections can be consulted by appointment, while the databases can be explored online.

The history of the APGRD collections

Fiona Macintosh provides a brief history of the APGRD collections, in the context of museums, archives and collecting more generally, in The Cambridge Companion to Theatre History, eds. D. Wiles and C. Dymkowski (Cambridge, 2012); the chapter's proofs are available to read here: Museums, archives and collecting (PDF).

The evolution of the APGRD collections was explored by Fiona Macintosh and Giovanna Di Martino in their article "Archiving and Interpreting Greek and Roman Theater: The Archive as Engine Room and Digital Hub" (PDF) (FuturoClassico, No. 7, 2021), and by Fiona Macintosh in "Échange d’expériences: l’archive comme salle des machines et plateforme digitale" (Revue d’historiographie du théâtre, No. 9, 2024).
