Warr's translation was adapted by E. D. A. Morshead for this production, which was possibly the earliest professional production of the Oresteia. Fiona Macintosh considers that this production began in 1903, but Trewin in Benson and the Bensonians states that although it was conceived in the winter of 1903 it was not produced until the spring of 1904 (p.143). In the spring of 1904 it also toured several public schools. The 1904 production was revived the following year.
