Agamemnon (1896)

Year:
1896
Notes:
Verse translation by Paul Claudel. In the preface to Les Choéphores published in 1920, Claudel stressed the difference between his translation of Agamemnon and that of the last two plays of the Oresteia. In 1896, his purpose was to work on iambic poetry, rather than on the piece's theatricality. The three plays were only collected under the title L'Orestie in 1961.
