Production notes:
This 'new comic Opera' seems to be a distant relative of Menaechmi via Shakespeare's Comedy of Errors. The plot features twin daughters, one of whom was stolen in infancy and the other one of whom grew up with her father. When the girls are of marrying age, the stolen twin escapes from her foster father who is attempting to espouse her. She seeks shelter nearby her real father's house, just as three suitors are addressing her father for the hand of her sister. A string of comic situations ensues as the girls are mistaken for one another. It all resolves happily with a double marriage.
