Lee Breuer's career stretches more than 60 years as a playwright, theatre director, academic, educator, film maker, poet and lyricist. He may be best known for directing the Broadway musical The Gospel at Colonus, as well as writing the lyrics for this Pentecostal gospel rendering of Sophocles' Oedipus at Colonus, which has been performed worldwide over more than 30 years, receiving numerous awards. Breuer co-founded the experimental Mabou Mines Theater Company in New York City in 1970 and his other celebrated works, Mabou Mines’ DollHouse and Peter and Wendy have also gathered cult audiences and impressive reviews around the world.

Actor, adapter, dramaturge, and producer, Maude Mitchell has worked with Lee Breuer for two decades on six continents. She is best known for playing Nora in the stage and film versions of Mabou Mines' DollHouse (adapted by Mitchell and Breuer together), for which she was awarded a Drama league nomination, Back Stage West Garland, Elliot Norton, and an OBIE award.
