We do not know when the Gathering of the Achaeans was first produced. The date range given here is based on Sophocles' first competition (Mar. Par) and his last (Life of Euripides 2). It is assumed here that the play would have been performed in Athens. Some have suggested that this is the same play as Syndeipnoi (Those who dine together).
