APGRD Notes
We are not sure of the dates that Spintharus was active as a tragedian. There is a reference to him in Aristophanes' Birds 762, produced in 414 BC. The date range given here is therefore arbitrary, giving a 10-year margin either side of 414 BC. No fragments remain of the Perikaiomenus Heracles (Heracles Scorched), but we learn that it was one of Spintharus' tragedies from the entry in the Suda.
