      APGRD Notes
We are not sure of the dates that Spintharus was active as a tragedian. There is a reference to him in Aristophanes' Birds 762, produced in 414 BC. The date range given here is therefore arbitrary, giving a 10-year margin either side of 414 BC. No fragments remain of the Parthenopaeus, but Diongenes Laertius (5, 92) tells us that either Dionysius or Spintharus wrote a 'Parthenopaeus'.
