APGRD Notes
This play was a fabula praetexta (serious Roman historical drama). It is not known when it was produced. We learn from Cicero (Brutus 229) that Accius was producing tragedies by 140 BC. Therefore the date range for performance given here is set between 140 BC and the year of Accius' death c. 86 BC. It is assumed that the play was produced in Rome.
