The Four Ages is an attempt to put on stage all Greek myth, plus an entire act of Amphitruo in The Silver Age, and a radical adaptation of the Oresteia (especially the Agamemnon) in The Iron Age. Michelakis in Agamemnon in Performance (p. 4) states that they draw on John Lydgate's late medieval Troy Book and on William Caxton's Recuyell of the Histories of Troy.
