Classics and English Annual Lecture: Plots and Painted Tyrants: Performing Hecuba in the sixteenth century

The ninth annual Classics and English lecture will be delivered by Dr Carla Suthren (St Catherine's College, Oxford). In the Ioannou Centre lecture theatre and live-streamed via panopto at 3pm on Monday 22 April 2024. This talk re-examines the performance history of Hecuba in sixteenth-century England, presenting new evidence for an early production by All Souls men, and exploring how contemporary modes of reading Euripides might translate onto the early modern stage.
