Diogenes Laertius (2,63) records that Polycritus of Mende in his 'History of Dionysius' says that he lived with the tyrant Dionysius until his expulsion from Syracuse, and survived until the return of Dion, and that with him was Carcinus the tragic poet. The start date for a possible performance(s) is based on the date when Carcinus is supposed to have flourished. The end date is based on the time of Dion's return. The location of the conjectured performance(s) might be anywhere in Sicily.
