      APGRD Notes
It is not known when this play was first performed. Livius Andronicus produced the first Latin comedy for the Ludi Romani in 240 BC. We also know that he lived long enough to meet Cato the Elder (see Cicero, de Senectute, 14, 50) which suggests that he died c. 204 BC. The date range for performance is based on those two dates. It is assumed that the plays were performed in Rome. This play was a fabula palliata (comedy in Greek dress).
