We do not know when the Acrisius was first produced. The date range given here is based on Sophocles' first competition (Mar. Par) and his last (Life of Euripides 2). It is assumed here that the play would have been performed in Athens. It may have been performed as part of trilogy with Men of Larissa and Danae. There is also a suggestion that it may have been identical with the Danae.
