It is not known when this play was produced. The date range for performance given here is between the year of his first competition (acc. to Suda) and his death (Marm. Par.). It is assumed that this play would have been produced in Athens. It may have been performed as part of an Odyssean trilogy, with Ghost-raisers (Psychagogoi) and Penelope as the plays before it and Circe as the satyr play. Some have argued that this was a satyr drama.
